The urge to escape can be a strong one - getting away from your daily life and regular routine is often the main drive for people to take holidays, and if you're planning to holiday in Edinburgh then you may wish to indulge your escapist fantasies in one of the city's award-winning attractions!
Part of a new breed of 'escape room' attractions, Can You Escape? was the winner of the Scotland's Best Family Day Out 2015 award, and offers a unique and contemporary addition to the city's entertainment offering.
If you've not experienced an escape room before, the premise is simple. You and a group of friends (between 2 and 10 people) assume the roles of secret agents on an undercover mission to achieve an objective - you enter a specially designed room and have up to an hour to complete the challenges and escape the game!
The escape missions on offer here are clever and entertaining - in Operation Odyssey you must repair the escape pod on a damaged space station before the next meteor strike, whilst Operation Bald Eagle saw agents attempting to thwart an evil genius's plans to poison the city with an elixir to induce hair loss!
Having experienced Bald Eagle myself, I can wholeheartedly recommend Can You Escape? to visitors seeking an alternative to visiting historical sites or trailing the Royal Mile on a city tour. It's a brilliantly designed and detailed cross between the Crystal Maze and the Krypton Factor, testing your creative problem solving and lateral thinking, with a range of puzzles to challenge and confuse. Help is always on hand from the senior agent overseeing your work, who will provide hints and clues as necessary to guide you, and as it's suitable for a range of ages from children upwards, everybody can get involved in solving the puzzles to aid your escape.
Bald Eagle may no longer be available to play, but the team behind this award-winning attraction have two new experiences launching later this month! Operation Deadlock (opening 26 October) will allow rival teams to compete simultaneously to complete a series of challenges and recover a precious artifact, whilst a one-night-only Frightnight game on Halloween will pit players against undead opponents in a race across the city!
Book your visit today and get sharpening your mental faculties today for this fun and entertaining challenge!
